Jawan Movie Review: Delivers Goosebumps and Entertainment in Equal Measures

Jawan, directed by Atlee, is a terrific mass-appealing film that combines a rooted, emotional, and inspiring script with electrifying execution. With Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, showcasing seven diverse characters, and supported by an ensemble cast, Jawan offers a delightful cinematic experience that caters to every segment of the audience.

Jawan Plot Summary:
The story revolves around SRK’s character, who plays a messiah fighting for social justice. Jawan tells the story of Vikram Rathore and his son Azad, both played by Shah Rukh Khan. Azad, a messiah, takes it upon himself to bring justice to those who have suffered at the hands of the corrupt system. From fighting against farmer’s suicides to holding the health minister accountable, Azad becomes a hero loved by the masses.

Vikram Rathore, Azad’s father, has a poignant backstory that reveals how they both become the saviors of humanity. Along the way, Azad marries Nayanthara, who is a cop. Together, they form a powerful duo dedicated to fighting for justice. Azad’s army consists of Sanya Malhotra, Leher Khan, Sangeeta Bhattacharya, and others, who join him in his mission to right the wrongs. However, their path is obstructed by Vijay Sethupathi, a formidable villain and a weapon dealer. Deepika Padukone makes a cameo appearance as Azad’s mother and plays a crucial part in the film’s backstory. Sanjay Dutt also has an extended cameo, portraying an intriguing character that adds depth to the narrative.

With as many as seven different looks, Shah Rukh Khan effortlessly brings charm, intensity, madness, and heroism to his characters, showcasing his versatility as an actor. The plot is well-crafted, delivering high points of the story with excellence, particularly the SRK’s entry, metro sequence, chase sequence, interval, and climax, which are major highlights of the film, evoking goosebumps. The interval block is a standout moment and is arguably the greatest ever in Hindi cinema.

Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of the protagonist is exceptional, with each of his characters having multiple shades. From his intense emotional scenes to his action-packed sequences, SRK delivers a crowd-pleasing performance, establishing himself as a mass hero. Additionally, Nayanthara delivers a stellar performance in her meaty role, while Vijay Setupathi, although good, could have been better. The entire ensemble cast provides excellent support, adding depth to the story.

Music & Visual:
Anirudh’s background score in Jawan deserves special mention, as it elevates the impact of the film manifold. The brilliant BGM acts as the second lead hero of the movie, accentuating the emotions and intensifying the action sequences. Visually, the film is captivating, with stunning cinematography that enhances the overall viewing experience.

Jawan is a masala entertainer of the highest order, seamlessly blending style, substance, action, and emotions. Atlee has crafted a powerful and pertinent film that delivers entertainment in wholesale quantity. With Shah Rukh Khan at the helm, showcasing his versatility and bringing his characters to life, Jawan is undoubtedly one of his most crowd-pleasing works to date.
