Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film, Jawan, has taken the box office by storm, raking in a massive Rs 282.50 crores nett in India in just a span of four days. The film, directed by renowned filmmaker Atlee Kumar, features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, and Sanjay Dutt. It has not only shattered the opening day and opening weekend records for a Hindi origin film but has also re-established Khan’s dominance at the box office.
Despite the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match on Monday, which took away some potential audience, Jawan held terrifically, earning around Rs 26.50 – 28.50 crores nett in Hindi and an additional Rs 3 – 3.50 crores nett in other languages. This brings the film’s approximate total to around Rs 30.50 crores.
Impressively, Jawan has already crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the India box office, with the 5-day total standing at around Rs 313 crores nett. The film is now eyeing the Rs 400 crore club for its Hindi version, which it is expected to achieve over the second weekend. If it continues to perform strongly for the next couple of weeks, Jawan has a high chance of becoming the highest-grossing Indian film for the Hindi language.
With no significant competition in the coming weeks, Jawan is poised to topple the lifetime box office records for a Hindi origin film. Currently, Khan’s previous film, Pathaan, holds the title of the highest-grossing Indian film for the Hindi language, followed closely by Gadar 2. However, Jawan’s stellar performance suggests that it may soon claim the top spot.
The success of Jawan is a testament to the growing stature of the Hindi Film Industry. With each passing film, the industry is scaling new heights and breaking new records, and Jawan is no exception. Fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting to see if the film can maintain its phenomenal box office streak and emerge as the highest-grossing Indian film for the Hindi language.
