After enthralling audiences with larger-than-life movies like Baahubali 1 & 2 and RRR, filmmaker SS Rajamouli is set to present another epic film. The filmmaker on Tuesday shared the teaser of his upcoming project titled Made In India. The movie, which narrates the story of ‘the birth and rise’ of Indian cinema, is directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya, along with Varun Gupta.
The announcement teaser of Made in India, which is said to be the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, says, “Indian cinema has witnessed many biopics. This is the biopic of Indian cinema. SS Rajamouli presents to you, Made in India.”
While sharing the first teaser, SS Rajamouli shared how the film’s story left him ’emotional’. He wrote on X, “When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it..:) With immense pride, Presenting MADE IN INDIA…”
For the unversed, Dadasaheb Phalke is referred to as the ‘Father of Indian Cinema’. Phalke made the first-ever full-length Indian feature film titled Raja Harishchandra in 1913. He went on to make a reported 27 short films, and over 90 full-length movies in his career as a filmmaker of nearly two decades.
The cast of the film is yet to be decided. Nitin Kakkar, who has taken the director’s chair for the film, has previously helmed films like Filmistaan (2012), Mitron (2018), Notebook (2019), Jawaani Jaaneman (2020), and Ram Singh Charlie (2020). It is the first production venture of SS Karthikeya, who was credited as Line Producer in his father’s last hit, RRR.
